Our Favorite Wizarding World Secrets

Universal has really done a great job with the details in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Because of this, there’s so much to see and experience that you most likely won’t get it all the first time around...that is unless you are reading this! Here are our favorite hidden details to look for in the Wizarding World.

#1. Moaning Myrtle

Make sure you take a bathroom break while you are in Hogsmeade, and you may just hear Moaning Myrtle. She travels back and forth between both the men’s and women’s bathroom, and you may have to listen closely if it’s busy and loud.

#2. Knockturn Alley

If you aren’t paying attention, you may miss one of the two entrances to Knockturn Alley (like my son and I did on our very first trip). Past the bathrooms in Diagon Alley and on the left and near the Leaky Cauldron, you can find entrances to Knockturn Alley. Not only does Knockturn Alley have a great gift shop and extra places to practice magic, but it is also a nice break from the heat on those hot summer days.

#3 Platform 9 3/4

If you didn’t already know, the Hogwarts Express is a completely different ride each way. But in the queue at King’s Cross, you don’t want to miss walking through the brick wall. It can be easy to walk by and miss because you have to be in one spot to do it and one spot to view it, so ask a Team Member and get your video ready.

# 4 Kreacher

Before you enter Diagon Alley, check out the windows in the streets of London. You may just see Kreacher peeking out at you from 12 Grimmauld Place.

#5 The Phone Booth

Don’t forget to call the Ministry of Magic while you are there. Step into the red phone book outside of Diagon Alley and dial MAGIC to receive a message.

#6 Hidden Magic

When you have an interactive wand in the Wizarding World, there are plenty of places to perform magic all marked by a gold emblem on the ground. However, there are a couple that are hidden. One we found is at the window of the Ink shop, and another is said to be in the window of the Apothecary store.
